My Journey
Born with an artistic soul, a natural with art, visualizer and experimental with colours, combined with dreams and love for our Mother Earth. A devoted mother, an enthusiastic learner and a passionate scuba diver.
Creativity to me is not just about nurturing my artistic abilities – it is my way of life. It was this creativity that sparked my love affair with the field of fashion. I was blessed to have my elementary years in fashion moulded by industry stalwarts and pioneers including Hemant Trivedi, Neeta Lulla, and Wendell Rodricks, guiding me to transform my enthusiasm into inspiration, experimenting with techniques, fabrics, textiles and materials.
Finding passion in designing women’s accessories, I started ‘Coral Accessories’ in 2004, my brand of artisanal footwear and bags for women. In 2018, taking a sabbatical to enrich my journey as a designer, I decided to pursue a Masters degree in Luxury Accessory Design and Brand Management at Istituto Marangoni, Italy, Milan. Returning to India in December 2019 with a new focus, I was seeking new ways to relaunch my brand but with a combined sense of design with ecological, sustainable and reusable fabrics.
The lockdown of March 2020 was a blessing in disguise to allow me to soak in my recently completed Masters, along with the calling that our Earth needs protection and I need to be a part of making a quality future for the next gen.
‘CoralbySeema’ is a way to channelise my love for nature combined with free flowing creativity. I want people to feel loved and move one step closer to nature when they wear my creations; made from lengths of cloth hand-dyed and printed using ingredients from nature. I am committed to being an ecologically sustainable brand that will leave unforgettable impressions in the world.
For me, personally working with natural ingredients has been a long journey of healing and a true life saver.I have the gratification of creating a design and bring it to life. Art has my heart and soul and I am forever grateful to found my calling to create a beautiful tomorrow for our planet earth.
